About SABRINA
A magazine about the hidden hungers of women's lives.
SABRINA is an independent love, sex and relationships magazine exploring the inner lives of women: what they want, what they ache for, what gives them pleasure, and the desires they have learned to question, suppress or apologize for.
Food. Love. Sex. Beauty. Romance. Pleasure. Desire. Ambition.
SABRINA treats these not as separate lifestyle categories, but as different expressions of the same thing: appetite.
The Story
Nearly a decade spent studying women.
Its founder, writer and editor Sabrina B. Bawa began this work at twenty years old with a French-language wellness publication for women.
Throughout her early twenties, she immersed herself in meditation, yoga, Ayurveda, Tantra and Eastern philosophies of the body and mind. That work eventually grew into a six-figure wellness and coaching company devoted primarily to women.
But over the years, the questions became less about wellness and increasingly about desire.
Why were women so often at war with their appetites, particularly around food, their bodies, love and sexuality? Why could a woman become extraordinarily disciplined about taking care of herself and still feel disconnected from pleasure? And what happens when she stops treating pleasure as something she has to earn?
Those questions led Bawa deeper into femininity, sensuality, sexuality, relationships and female desire, and eventually toward French and Italian cultures of pleasure, beauty, food, romance and l'art de vivre.
SABRINA grew out of that evolution.
The question beneath the magazine
What does a woman want when nobody is telling her what she should want?
Why SABRINA, Why Now
A good life can still feel strangely quiet.
Modern women have been given unprecedented language for optimization.
We know how to become more productive. More efficient. Healthier. More independent. More disciplined. More successful.
And yet a woman can have a good life and still wonder why it does not feel as vivid as the life she imagined it would. She can be competent, responsible, loved and successful, and still sense that something has gone quiet inside her.
SABRINA was created for that conversation.
It takes seriously the things women's lives have often been told are frivolous: romance, beauty, sex, sensuality, food, being desired, pleasure, longing and intimacy.
But the beautiful surface is only the beginning.
Can a woman want devotion without surrendering her independence? Enjoy being desired without making desirability the foundation of her worth? Be deeply feminine and ferociously ambitious? Want more without believing there must be something wrong with the life she already has?
These tensions, romance and autonomy, sensuality and intellect, softness and power, devotion and sovereignty, femininity and ambition, are where SABRINA lives.
Who We Write For
SABRINA is for the woman who knows something is missing, even when she cannot quite explain what.
She is not necessarily unhappy. Her life may be full. Her relationship may be good. She may have everything she once thought she wanted.
And still, she wants to feel more alive inside it.
She wants to taste her food. Wear the perfume. Book the hotel. Dress for dinner. Kiss longer. Read books again. Make beautiful things. Want her lover. Want herself.
SABRINA does not exist to give her another list of things she should become. It exists to make her notice what is already stirring.
The Intention
Women's desires deserve serious cultural attention.
Not because every desire should be obeyed. Not because pleasure is the answer to everything. And not because there is one correct way to be feminine.
But because what women hunger for, privately, emotionally, romantically, sexually and creatively, tells us something about their lives.
SABRINA exists to give language to those hungers through writing, photography, food, beauty, romance, sexuality and emotional inquiry.
A world where glamour and thought are not opposites. Where beauty can carry meaning. Where pleasure is worthy of examination. And where femininity never has to be stripped of its contradictions to be taken seriously.
The intention is not to tell women how to live.
It is to make them recognize a feeling they could not name. Reconsider a desire they dismissed. Notice beauty again. Return to their senses.
To remember how deeply alive they are capable of feeling.
About the Founder
Sabrina B. Bawa
Founder · Editor · Writer
Sabrina B. Bawa is a writer, editor and founder whose work explores women's relationships with love, pleasure, femininity, sexuality, beauty and desire.
She began writing about women's wellbeing at twenty, eventually building a six-figure wellness company while spending much of her twenties studying holistic healing, meditation, yoga, Ayurveda and Tantra.
Her work gradually moved beyond wellness toward the psychology and culture of female appetite, and the complicated relationship women have with wanting.
Today, that decade-long inquiry forms the philosophical foundation of SABRINA.
Written and independently published from France.
